  • Assistant Professor

Dr. Olga V. Kravchenko is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine. She graduated with an MS in Chemistry from the University of California Davis, moving on to earn a PhD in Chemistry from the University of British Columbia.

Her postdoctoral work was completed at the University of Pittsburgh, in the Department of Chemistry and Bioinformatics, where she trained as an NLM Fellow.

Dr. Kravchenko's work is focused on: Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) applications in Family Medicine and Primary Care. Her research projects to date can be placed into three major categories: 1) developing practical AI/ML and statistical models that can be translated into clinical settings, particularly in the Family Medicine and Primary Care domains, 2) creating analytical tools that inform clinical decision support by leveraging electronic health records (EHR) to extract patient-specific information and contextualize clinical alerts, and 3) translational research using large-scale EHR datasets such as the NCATS-funded National COVID Cohort Collaborative (N3C), NIH-funded national All of Us program, and EBACT (Evolve to Next Gen Act) Network.  Her most recent interest is in the field of AI ethics, which explores issues such as data responsibility, algorithmic fairness, misuse of technology, safe integration of AI into clinical practice, long-term monitoring, and accountability.

Outside of work, Dr. Kravchenko can be found hanging out with her family, traveling and exploring new places together, hiking, skiing, snowboarding, and playing with their tuxedo cat Oreo.
