Krissy Moehling Geffel, PhD, MPH

Biography

Dr. Krissy Moehling Geffel is Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine. She graduated with a PhD in Epidemiology and an MPH in Behavioral and Community Health Sciences from the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA. She completed a HRSA NRSA T32 Postdoctoral fellowship in Primary Care at the University of Pittsburgh Department of Pediatrics, Pittsburgh, PA.  

Her research interests are: 

  • Influenza and COVID-19 epidemiology, vaccine effectiveness and immunology;
  • RSV epidemiology;
  • Social determinants of health and associations with health disparities;
  • Vaccine messaging and message framing for increasing vaccine confidence;
  • Increasing vaccination uptake across the lifespan

In her free time, she enjoys kayaking, hiking and adventuring with her husband, and cheering for her stepchildren and their sports teams.
