Dr. Amanda Casagrande was born and raised in Derry, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Derry Area High School and completed her undergraduate degree at Saint Vincent College where she studied Biology, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Dr. Casagrande then attended Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at UPMC St. Margaret in Aspinwall and New Kensington, PA where she served as Chief of Policy in her final year.
Dr. Casagrande is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She is director of the Primary Care Accelerated Track (PCAT) which allows students pursuing careers in primary care specialties to complete medical school in three years instead of four. Dr. Casagrande is a Clinical Skills Preceptor, teaching medical students interviewing and physical exam techniques, and she precepts medical students on their family medicine clerkship as well. Additionally, Dr. Casagrande serves as medical director of the Pitt Vaccination and Health Connection Hub where she focuses on curriculum development for interprofessional education. Dr. Casagrande sees patients at University Family Medicine - Liberty Ave where she serves at medical director and she rounds inpatient with the family medicine service at UPMC Shadyside.
Dr. Casagrande's interests include women's health, obstetrics, addiction medicine, and care for underserved populations. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, trying new restaurants, and theatre.
