Dr. Alisa Liu joined the Family Medicine Department in 2022. She was born in Ottawa, Canada but spent most of her childhood on Long Island, New York. She attended New York University and received a B.S. in Neuroscience. She received her M.D. From State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, New York. She completed her family medicine residency at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. She then moved to Pittsburgh to become a primary care physician. She is currently Medical Director at University of Pittsburgh Physicians Squirrel Hill Family Medicine, and Assistant Professor at the UPMC Shadyside Family Medicine Residency program.
Dr. Liu enjoys serving a diverse patient population and teaching medical students and residents. She provides full-spectrum care including hospital medicine, women's health, prenatal care, and procedures such as long-acting reversible contraception and skin biopsies. She enjoys drawing and painting, trying new foods, and exploring Pittsburgh with her husband and daughter.
